Part two of Malcolm Glover’s feature, “Homeless children in Arkansas,” aired today on KUAR FM 89.1. You can listen to his report online at KUAR’s website .

“One of every 50 children in America experiences homelessness and a new report by the National Center on Family Homelessness says most states have inadequate plans to address the growing problem. In the reports ranking system, Arkansas is in the bottom five with states that have poor performance in the areas of child homelessness per capita, child well-being, risk for child homelessness, and state policy and planning.”  — Source: Malcolm Glover, KUAR FM 89.1

Lydia Jou and Mattie Thacker present their donation Tuesday, March 31.

Eighth graders Mattie Thacker and Lydia Jou raised $1,500 to buy 84 sets of blankets, sheets, pillows and some stuffed animals for Our House.

The girls are part of the North Little Rock mayor’s Youth Council and raised the money for their “Start Something” project.

The pair raised money through a school penny drive, a $300 donation from their church and held a bake sale in the snow.

Donate your gently worn J. Jill apparel at any J. Jill store and receive 10 percent off one new item. J. Jill will then donate all gently worn items to Our House residents.

This promotion is part of the J. Jill Compassion Fund, established in June 2002. According to its website, more than $2.3 million has been donated to the Fund and J. Jill has given out more than $1,500,000 in grants since 2002.

The Fund is “committed to providing support to community-based organizations that help poor and homeless women become self-sufficient.”
